Job type: Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: $33.00 - $43.00+ per hour (depending on experience)
Our client, a privately owned Electrical Contractor, is hiring a Pre-Construction Electrical Designer for their dynamic team in Chicago, IL.
The Pre-Construction Electrical Designer is responsible for creating engineering packages for RFI and new business development projects.

Our client, a privately owned Electrical Contractor, is hiring a Pre-Construction Electrical Designer for their dynamic team in Chicago, IL.
The Pre-Construction Electrical Designer is responsible for creating engineering packages for RFI and new business development projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform initial review of project drawings to examine for any RFI's or information needed prior to starting a project
- Review project submittals
- Perform job walk-throughs and create tool/material lists for field use
- Be able to communicate with office, electricians, and general contractors regarding project needs
- Attend job meetings at the beginning of projects
- Review site logistics for any initial impacts on progress
- Create design/shop drawings for all conduit routing and circuiting
- Review drawing changes throughout the project
- Create a bill of material/takeoffs of job materials
- Design tasks and items to be prefabricated before field installation
- Be able to understand efficient conduit routing and circuiting
- Produce initial project schedules and proper project documentation for the field to use. Also, make these files available digitally to the field
- Create methods to streamline preconstruction/field communication processes
- Be able to makes sketches/drawings of prefabricated items specific for the job or templates for future jobs
- Be able to organize numerous jobs running concurrently
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering a plus. But not required.
- 2+ years of Design Experience
- Electrical field installation knowledge
- Knowledge of NEC by experience or electrical license
- Bluebeam PDF editor
- Microsoft project scheduler
- Primavera P6 scheduler
- Microsoft word, excel, outlook
- AutoDesk, AutoCad, Revit
