Overview
Kimley-Horn’sBoca-Delray, Florida (FL) office is seeking a Power Studies Engineer with 4+years experienceto join their Electrical team.With a focus on serving clients within thepower delivery andrenewable energy sectors, the Power Studies Engineer will act as a technical expert in thedesign, analysis,and optimization of electrical power systems. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
+ Support the power electrical team to analyze systems, create software models, and write reports for power delivery or generation projects
+ Assist with project design, specifications, and plans support
+ Review work with quality in mind to confirm compliance with Kimley-Horn quality standards
+ Studies performed may include (per candidate experience):
+ Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or SKM
+ Load Flow / Reactive Power Analysis
+ Thermal Ampacity studies using software like AmpCalc or CYMCAP
+ Grounding studies using WinIGS, CDEGS, or SKM Ground Mat
+ Transient studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, or PSLF
+ Harmonic studies using ETAP or transient software
+ Relay setting development using SEL AcSELerator
+ Partner with the electrical team to create calculations and drawings for power delivery and/or renewable energy projects
+ Continually gain knowledge in industry
Qualifications
+ 4+ years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPC
+ 1+ years' project management experience
+ EIT certification or path to move towards certification is preferred
+ CYMCAP, SKM, ETAP, EMTP-RV, PSS/E, PSCAD, WinIGS, or CDEGS experience preferred
+ Understanding or willing to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keep up with emerging technologies
+ General understanding of engineering and energy systems
+ Load Flow, Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory and methodology
+ Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office
+ Ability to work and manage several project teams concurrently
+ The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively
+ The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
