Power Production Technician (Secret Clearance Required – Qatar)
Location: Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar
Compensation: $98,000–$103,000

Position Overview
The Power Production Technician is critical to ensuring the reliable operation of power generation and distribution systems at Al Udeid Air Base. This role requires a U.S. government-issued Secret Clearance, technical expertise in power systems, and a commitment to safety and compliance. The Technician will operate and maintain gas- and diesel-powered generators, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Manual Transfer Switches (MTS), and associated equipment, while adhering to U.S. Department of Defense and host nation regulations.
Key Responsibilities
System Operations and Maintenance
- Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair power generation systems ranging from 5 to 4,300 kilowatts, including transfer switches, fuel tanks, and cabling.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system functionality and compliance with contractual and manufacturer specifications.
- Ensure prompt response to outages and emergencies, including a two-hour response window for government requests.
Safety and Compliance
- Train team members on safety protocols and hazard analysis.
- Manage hazardous materials, waste, and Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) storage and handling.
- Adhere to environmental and safety regulations, including compliance with NFPA 70, 70E, 110, and 111.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records using AF719 Historical Record - Diesel-Electric Generator and System and AF487 Generator Operating Log.
- Submit required outage and status reports promptly and accurately.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical power generation operations.
- Valid Journeyman or Master Technician certification and license from a recognized U.S. credentialing authority.
- Formal training on power generation equipment (e.g., military technical training or vocational college).
- Experience with low- and high-voltage systems, interpreting schematics, and using test equipment.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in troubleshooting and maintaining power systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Must complete and maintain Flight Line Driving Certification.
Other Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship and Secret Clearance required.
- Valid passport and driver’s license.
- Pass medical screening.
- Ability to work in austere environments and extreme temperatures while wearing PPE.
