Job Description Summary
Position Objective:
The Power & HVAC Technician Trainee position is an entry level position for a highly motivated, hard-working person with the desire to grow their career at Sunbelt. The role of the Technician Trainee is to perform light mechanical and preventative maintenance work under close supervision. In addition, this person will go through a training program that will allow the individual to expand their skill set on a variety of equipment Including Generators, Air Compressors, Chillers, A/C and Dehu’s. This position is a learning and training position to prepare for Power & HVAC Technician 1 Role.
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs to all types of equipment; documents equipment status before and after rental (including work order detail during repair), communicates equipment issues to foreman, and supporting mechanics.
- Performs Yard operations, loads and unloads equipment, performs check-in inspections and fuels equipment as needed.
- Adjusts various types of equipment to the correct settings as needed and performs basic equipment repair, under the direction of the Service Manager and Mentor
- Assists with set up and delivery of equipment systems in the shop operations and to customers jobsites.
- Assists more experienced Technicians with the delivery and installation of rented Power, HVAC/DH, Compressed Air, and other equipment types.
- Disposes of hazardous materials in a responsible and safe fashion in accordance with company policy
- Adheres to all safety standards as prescribed by Sunbelt management
- Perform safety inspections on equipment
- Attend all training and manufacturing training as directed
- Meet all company, governmental, and equipment related safety requirements
- Attend and participate in all Profit Center Meetings
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and properly handle company tools
- Maintain acceptably clean, neat, and professional appearance always while wearing company uniforms
- Other duties as assigned by the manager
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Willingness to learn and ability to comprehend technical equipment repairs & Diagnostics
- 0 to 1 years’ experience with similar equipment strongly preferred
- Ability to effectively and safely use mechanic’s tools and equipment
- Personal and professional integrity
- Proficient to advanced computer skills - enter work orders, diagnose issues, Wynne system
- Exhibit a clear understanding of the necessity of equipment safety
- Flexibility regarding work assignments
- Must be physically able to work in a jobsite or shop environment for extensive periods to include lifting up to 50lbs, bending, squatting, crouching, reaching
Other:
This is an entry level technician program that can last up to 18 months in which the company will provide the needed tool kit and Box for the candidate selected. Upon completion and once the candidate is deemed ready for the Power & HVAC Technician 1 position, the tools and Toolbox provided will become the property of the candidate.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. All duties must be performed according to Sunbelt’s safety policies and guidelines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to comply with ADA/ADAAA.

Base Pay Range: $19.50 - 28.02
