The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and testing of Advanced Electrical Power Systems for US Navy ship programs. If you are passionate about hands-on power systems work, have previous experience with power electronics and related equipment, and thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities, then you could be the perfect fit for this role.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Work with a diverse range of equipment including DC/DC and AC/DC solid-state converters, solid-state relays, motor drives, transfer switches, and overcurrent protection.
- Oversee and facilitate shipboard preventive and corrective maintenance
- Interface with multidisciplinary engineering groups to coordinate technical requirements and product integrity
- Perform engineering projects related to electrical power distribution systems, electric drives, and solid-state converters.
- BS in Electrical Engineering required
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in the field of Power Electronics
- Ability to learn quickly and work on several projects concurrently
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Project management experience is a plus
- Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, standing and prolonged sitting
- Ability to carry up to 50lbs and traverse a shipboard environment
- Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance
- Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax, and other office equipment
- Ability to travel up to 10%
