The EE Power engineer will be an integral part of the EE team working on and developing a range of high power electronics to support inverters, converters and power management in the multi kilowatt range. This design position requires a strong knowledge of schematic and PCB design implementing high voltage and high currents as well as sub system level design. Additional responsibilities include manufacturing, integration and test while addressing performance requirements without sacrificing safety in the lab. The candidate should have a big picture approach to DFM, DFT when developing design and setup strategies. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast paced, small team startup environment.
The ideal candidate would have several of the following qualifications:
- BS degree in electrical engineering, system engineering or related field
- Minimum of 8+ years experience (6 + Masters) with power electronics, preferably greater than 100V and 1kW or greater
- A good understanding of electrical and firmware system interaction (i.e. power systems, shielding, grounding, signal transmission, cabling etc)
- A good understanding of high power system losses, thermal considerations and methods for power dissipation
- Writing documentation while working across functional teams for both pre- and post- electrical testing activities to address requirements, functionality, system bring up development and post field performance and failures
- Designing, procuring and implementing test setups that address safety requirements while able to functional test
- Some experience with FW programming and debugging
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
Responsibilities of the position are:
- Working cross functionally and with team leads to develop system and or sub system requirements
- Designing PCBs with Altium capable of high power conversion (AC, DC, >1kWatt)
- Hands on testing and debugging of PCB circuit boards
- Hands on testing of electrical systems driving results to requirements
- Specifying, purchasing, and assembling test hardware including COTs and in-house components
- Building and supporting cable assembly for test setups and sub system integration
- Developing test setups for interacting with the DUTs to address functional requirements
- Documentating of cabling and test setups
- Field testing and demonstration support
Salary for this position, starting at $140K, is strongly based on experience and education. Compensation package includes stock options, health insurance, short and long term disability, and 401k with match. GreenSight offers a 9/80 flexible work schedule, and gives everyone the week between Christmas and New Years off in addition to their 15 days of paid vacation.
