Job Summary:
Seeking a knowledgeable Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and components. This role requires hands-on experience with power systems and cabling, including installation and testing, while also providing technical guidance, collaborating with diverse teams, and ensuring all designs align with industry standards, safety regulations, and project deadlines. The ideal candidate is proficient in electrical engineering principles, committed to quality, and proactive about innovation and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
1. Design and Development:
- Spearhead the design and development of electrical circuits, systems, and components to meet project goals and standards, with a focus on power systems and efficient cabling solutions.
- Develop technical specifications, detailed drawings, and documentation, and perform precise calculations to establish construction and installation criteria.
- Define requirements for electrical equipment and materials to ensure compliance with project specifications.
2. Technical Leadership:
- Offer mentorship and support to junior engineers, encouraging a collaborative work environment and supporting their professional growth.
- Act as a technical resource, providing expertise in power systems, cabling, and electrical systems to resolve complex engineering issues.
3. Project Management:
- Work closely with teams across disciplines, including mechanical and software engineers and project managers, to determine project objectives, establish schedules, and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Conduct regular meetings to track progress, address technical issues, and keep projects on schedule.
4. Testing and Evaluation:
- Organize and supervise testing, validation, and quality checks for electrical systems and components, focusing on cabling integrity and power system performance.
- Examine test outcomes, identifying areas for improvement or optimization based on performance analysis.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Generate clear and comprehensive technical documentation, including design reviews, specifications, and project progress updates.
- Ensure consistent, accurate records of electrical designs, test plans, and project milestones.
6. Quality Assurance:
- Enforce quality control measures to confirm that designs align with established standards and specifications.
- Review designs and technical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and readiness for manufacturing.
7. Research and Innovation:
- Keep informed on emerging industry trends and technological advancements to identify new opportunities for innovation in power systems and cabling.
- Develop ideas to refine current systems, processes, and products, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
8. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Perform risk assessments and integrate safety practices into the design and development phases.
9. Hands-On Cabling Work:
- Design, install, and manage cabling solutions, ensuring reliable and efficient electrical connectivity.
- Perform hands-on testing and troubleshooting of cabling systems to ensure performance and adherence to specifications.
10. Power Systems Expertise:
- Design, maintain, and enhance electrical power systems, ensuring they meet industrial, commercial, and domestic requirements.
- Troubleshoot and optimize power distribution networks to ensure reliability and performance.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical engineering, with demonstrated expertise in power systems and hands-on cabling.
- Skilled in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD) and knowledgeable in relevant industry standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Experience in project management, including defining requirements, resource allocation, and timeline management.
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to varied audiences.
- Familiar with manufacturing processes relevant to electrical systems and components.
- Hands-on experience with cabling installation, testing, and optimization.
