Objectives of this Role:
- Support in-lab instrumentation design, testing, and development.
- Perform SIMION and SRIM simulations to support ongoing and new projects.
- Collaborate with SwRI diverse research teams and publish in high impact, peer-reviewed journals.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Carry out original research in experimental space physics and related data analysis.
- Support the development, testing, and calibration of instruments to be flown on upcoming heliophysics or planetary missions.
- Interact with SwRI staff engaged in a broad range of observational, computational, and theoretical research in the physics of the heliosphere.
- Participate in internal group meetings, present results in relevant conferences, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements:
- Requires a PhD in Space Physics, Plasma Physics or a related field with related graduate work.
- 0 years: Experience in designing and operating low energy neutral atom detection systems.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment for particle detection.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
