About the Job
Compensation: $81,000 - $135,000 based on experience and credentials
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible hybrid)
The Portfolio Manager oversees the existing commercial and small business loan portfolio. Key responsibilities include underwriting new loan requests, processing renewals, annual reviews, covenant testing and modifications.An ideal candidate is an experienced commercial lending professional who is self-motivated to successfully manage responsibilities to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Underwrite new loan requests, renewals, annual reviews, and modifications on C & I, Construction & Development, Vehicle and Equipment loan requests on Conventional and SBA 504 / 7a loan products for corporate applicants
- Manage requests ranging from $5M to $25M
- Perform special financial statement analysis involving complex and interlocking relationships
- Determine acceptable quality of collateral and loan-to-value ratios
- Coordinate all activities required to complete a credit package with the assigned Commercial Loan Officers
- Interact with Loan Officers, Members, or CPAs to obtain necessary financial information and complete the credit package
- Prepare effective packages for credit approval circulation and present packages to the required level of credit authority
- Obtain and monitor various loan portfolio reports such as Maturing Loans, Past-Due Loans, and Annual Reviews
- Assist lenders with requisite action plans in a proactive manner
- Ensure that the credit union has current financial information and the information is correctly analyzed and on file
- Ensure that accurate and complete credit files are on hand
- Ensure that credits are accurately risk-rated and properly monitored or reported
- Adhere and comply with all requirements of Regulation B Adverse Action Procedures - Florida Division
- Manage and track covenants, borrowing bases, A-R Ageing, etc. for accounts
- Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, or quarterly reports
- Advise lenders on issues related to the credit policy, procedures, or forms
- Conduct annual site visits, attend loan closings, and other tasks required to support assigned lenders
- Evaluate and review existing relationships and new credit requests to make recommendations to the Credit Team
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
- Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field preferred (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements)
- 4+ years of experience in a credit-oriented and underwriting position within a commercial lending environment
- Knowledge of credit underwriting, accounting, and loan documentation
- Advanced level of interpersonal and social skills needed to interact with loan officers, administrative staff, and customers
- Advanced mathematical, credit, and administrative skills
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Ability to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet required deadlines
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
- Ability to resolve difficult and complex problems
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
- Ability to influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures
- Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance to successfully perform job responsibilities
