ABOUT US:
Northpoint Commercial Finance, (a division of Laurentian Bank of Canada) is a leading commercial lender providing inventory (floorplan) financing to facilitate the sale of products from manufacturer/suppliers to retail dealers throughout North America. We’re looking for a mid-career operations leader to join our Atlanta based team and grow within our organization. Ideal candidates will bring 10+ years of risk management, collections, or customer service/relationship skills, along with strong leadership experience in a floorplan lending environment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Portfolio Manager I is responsible for all risk management activity and dealer/supplier service within an assigned inventory finance product line territory. This position will lead a portfolio management team responsible for all loan collection activities, performance reporting, process development and employee development/engagement. Additionally, the role will be a subject matter expert within the assigned industry attending trade shows/industry events and working closely with our Business Development team to establish a rapport among key suppliers and industry leaders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Recruits, develops and retains an industry leading team of portfolio management professionals (Account Service Coordinators and Account Managers).
Develops and measures portfolio performance and productivity metrics for assigned team.
Ensure team is providing prompt, professional and proficient assistance to our commercial customers. Includes inquiries regarding account maintenance, billing statements, audit reconciliations, and assistance with system tools.
Performs monthly portfolio reviews of operations collection follow-up procedures according to published policy and operating guidelines.
Engages in delinquent account workout strategies partnering with the Special Assets team and/or in-house counsel to ensure effective methods are used to maximize recovery potential.
Takes a lead role managing key or high-risk exposures at both the dealer and/or supplier level.
Works effectively across all levels of the organization to support corporate mission and common performance goals.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education. MBA preferred.
Minimum Experience: 10+ years commercial finance experience specific to floorplan or inventory finance lending.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to draft customer facing emails/correspondence on a regular basis and reports as needed. Ability to effectively communicate via telephone as well as in a customer facing opportunity.
Additional Expectations:
- Strong technical skills in commercial lending operations and credit/financial analysis
- Strong technical skills in MS based tools and proficiency in all risk management aspects of a floorplan lending system.
- Possess a clear understanding of the credit risk management process
- Ability to gather, synthesize, organize and interpret data to formulate appropriate conclusions and decisions in a timely manner with minimal external input.
- Ability to lead a team as well as participate in a team to ensure corporate or departmental objectives are communicated and effectively achieved.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to effectively negotiate at all levels inside and outside the organization.
- 20% business travel is required.
