DAYPORTER
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for cleaning common areas and elevators and policing exterior grounds and parking decks in a designated account in a designated period. The Day Porter maintains a proper supply of paper items in all assigned restrooms and spot cleans as needed. Also, the Day Porter sets up tables and chairs as needed.
Monday - Friday: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Restock, as necessary, all restroom supplies: hand towels, toilet tissue, and hand soap and feminine hygiene products. Supplies are to be checked four times a day in all assigned restrooms.
- Spot clean restrooms as needed: floors, walls, partitions, toilets, urinals, lavatories, mirrors, dispensing equipment.
- Pick up trash as necessary.
- Spot clean common areas as needed: carpet, non-carpeted floors, baseboards, walls, mirrors, glass, drinking fountains, cigarette ash receptacles, trash containers, etc. Common areas are to be checked each time a floor is entered, and all floors should be checked at least twice per day.
- Police break areas, exterior grounds, and parking decks.
- Spot clean elevators as needed: floors, walls, doors.
- Clean/wash loading dock.
- Set up tables and chairs as requested.
- Note items needing special attention: dead plugs, lights out, etc. and contact supervisor immediately or as soon as possible.
- Return all cleaning supplies to the janitor closet, refill items as needed, make sure all cleaning supplies are labeled, and leave janitor closet clean, neat and orderly.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to interact with customers, follow instructions, understand and remember instructions and work without supervision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk and stand for extended periods, frequently reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle and feel, frequently stoop, kneel and bend over, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision required includes distant and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts such as vacuums, power sprayer and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually moderate.
