Description:
We are seeking a skilled Policy Technical Writer to develop, edit, and manage clear, concise, and comprehensive policies, procedures, and technical documentation for our client. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure documentation aligns with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives. The ideal candidate combines excellent writing and editing skills with a strong understanding of technical concepts, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and maintain IT Division policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures that align with DoD and federal regulations such as FISMA, NIST, OMB directives, and other relevant frameworks.
- Regularly update appropriate supervisors, leadership, and key stakeholders on status of policies, standards, and procedures being drafted or updated.
- Ability to understand federal IT frameworks and DoD compliance requirements to develop clear, actionable, and compliant policy documentation.
- Ensure IT policies align with federal mandates, DoDEA organizational goals, and best practices for cybersecurity, data management, and infrastructure.
- Work closely with IT, cybersecurity, legal, and operations teams to gather input and ensure policies reflect operational realities and technical requirements.
- Perform policy gap analyses and recommend updates to maintain compliance with evolving regulations.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and IT Division Leadership to ensure clarity and mutual understanding in policy-related matters.
- Update and review weekly policy and CATMS slides and present progress and status to the Policy Team and DoDEA Chief Information Officer (CIO).
- Assist with management of published DoDEA Issuances, templates, and supporting policy documentation.
- Support DoDEA Digital Success and Communications (DS&C) team in the development of Customer Advisory Notices (CAN), Field Advisory Notices (FAN), and IT Operational Directives (ITOD) as needed.
- Track and update CATMS and communicate changes in policy effectively across the organization.
- Prepare status reports and presentations on policy compliance, updates, and implementation progress for executive leadership, key stakeholders, and other oversight bodies.
Required Skills /Education/ Certifications & Qualifications:
- 5-8 years of related Writing experience
- Secret or TS Clearance required
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience in policy writing or technical documentation
- Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with documentation tools and content management systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
