About the Job
The Benbrook Police Department will conduct the Entrance Level Exam on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 9:00 A.M. Candidates successfully completing the examination will be placed on an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. The eligibility list will remain active for one year from the date of the written exam unless exhausted.
EXAMINATION
The written examination will be held at the Benbrook Municipal Complex, 911 Winscott Road, Benbrook, TX 76126. Applicants will have 2.5 hours to complete the written examination. It will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions.
Candidates passing the written exam portion of the exam will be directed to complete physical agility testing. The testing will be performed on a Concept 2 Rowing Machine. Physical readiness will be established at 25% VO2 max percentage based on a 2,000-meter row.

BENEFITS PACKAGE
The salary range is $75,260.44 to $91,479.54 annually. Certified Officers' beginning salary is $79,023.47 annually. A signing bonus of $5,000 is available to certified police officers. Benefits: 12 paid holidays; 15 vacation days and 15 sick leave days; longevity pay; Texas Municipal Retirement System – City matches 2:1 with 5 year vesting; certification pay; medical, dental and life insurance which is provided at the City’s expense; uniforms and equipment (including body armor and weapons) are provided. Family insurance coverage and deferred compensation is available at employee expense. Uniforms and equipment, including body armor and weapons, are provided.
HIRING PROCESS
All individuals seeking employment as a police officer will undergo the following:
Open, competitive and free Civil Service Examination, which tests general knowledge and aptitude
Physical Agility
Background Investigation
Preliminary Interview
Oral Review Board
Polygraph/psychological examination/medical physical
Police academy and job assignment
MILITARY EXPERIENCE
Applicants must score 70 or better. The exam score ranks candidates, five (5) points are added to the passing score for military experience with honorable discharge. A copy of the DD214 must be provided by the exam date. Late submittal will not be accepted.
