The purpose of this position is to protect and serve the city's property and citizens. This is accomplished by patrolling the City, recognizing and citing offenses, and making arrests where necessary. Other duties may include promoting a secure environment, enforcing traffic laws, reporting motor vehicle accidents, investigating crimes, maintaining positive community relations, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

The Allen Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of TCOLE certified Lateral Police Officer. Individuals who meet the minimum qualifications listed below are invited to submit an online employment application.

Once a NeoGov application has been received, you will be emailed directions on completing the Personal History Statement and Preliminary Interview packet. Those selected to continue will be contacted to schedule the written exam and physical assessment. Testing is done by appointment. Applicants must pass each phase of the hiring process to be hired.

In-State Lateral Requirements:
You must meet all the following requirements:

Must possess a valid TCOLE license
Must possess a current and valid Driver's License
Have completed at least 45 college credits with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Must be at least 21 years of age

The Chief of Police or Designee will individually access your experience to determine if you meet the eligibility criteria. Passing all stages of the hiring process is mandatory. Testing is done by appointment. The Chief of Police retains the authority to mandate attendance at a police academy to those who are chosen.
