Patrol - Traffic - Bike - Motorcycle - K9 - Drug & Vice - SRO - SWAT
The Newnan Police Department is a State Certified agency and serves as a leader in the public safety community. We offer advanced training opportunities, rotating twelve-hour shifts, take home vehicles, modern equipment, specialized unit assignments, and a team-based work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Patrol City of Newnan streets, parks, commercial and residential areas to preserve the peace and enforce the law.
Prevent, detect and investigate misconduct involving misdemeanors, felonies and other law violations and to otherwise serve and protect.
Respond to emergencies and investigate accidents, robberies, civil disturbances, domestic disputes, fights, drunkenness, missing children, prowlers, abuse of drugs and take appropriate law enforcement action.
Conduct follow-up investigations of crimes committed during assigned shift.
Prepare cases for testimony and testifies in court proceedings.
Accurately complete required reports and records.
Carry out duties in conformance with Federal, State, County, and City laws and ordinances
- Coordinate and cooperate with other City departments, law enforcement agencies and other legal entities as needed and assigned.
Qualifications:
Georgia Basic Peace Officer Standard Training (P.O.S.T.) Certified Officer in good standing.
Successfully complete pre-employment background check to include:
Valid US driver's license free of suspensions or revocations
Written Basic Aptitude Test
Physical Abilities Test
Background Investigation
Psychological Screening
Polygraph Examination
- Medical Physical and Drug Screening
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by completion of basic police officer training program.
- Base Pay Range $57,330 - $73,000
- Experience and Education Incentives
- Overtime and Special Assignments Available
Starting hourly rate based on experience, education and higher-level certifications
