About the Job
The Plumber is responsible for supporting the Mission and Vision of Crittenton Hospital Medical
Center (CHMC) by, under general supervision of the Facilities Director, installing, altering,
maintaining and repairing plumbing systems and associated equipment. Inspects/tests water, steam
disposal, oxygen, and vacuum and natural gas systems. In addition to insuring that all plumbing
work is in compliance with all codes and regulations, etc., performs general maintenance and repair
tasks
This position is located at Providence Rochester Hospital- Rochester, MI.
Responsibilities:Responsibilities:
• Essential Functions.
• Reviews blue prints and/or sketches/drawings of assignment and accurately estimates quantity and type of
materials needed for plumbing work to be performed.
• Performs assignments which typically includes, but not limited to, the following: a) Lay out, measure,
cut, lead and thread pipe b) Installation of valves, couplings and other fittings/seal connectors.. c)
Repair or replaces plumbing fixtures and water heaters, or other fixtures d) Performs repairs on main
drain systems e) Inspect, test and/or repair existing or new water systems f) Inspect and/or repair
oxygen regulators, flow meters, outlets, etc. g) Maintain reverse osmosis systems and makes appropriate
repair h) Preventative maintenance of fire sprinkler system i) Perform inspection and repairs as needed
to outdoor sprinkler system j) Perform winterizing of all outdoor plumbing/piping.
• Non-Essential Functions.
• Maintains and insures plumbing inventory is in adequate supply.
• Insures all tools are in proper repair and uses proper safety techniques while completing assignments.
• Responds to codes as appropriate.
• Assures timely and quality completion of assigned work in compliance with department standards and
procedures.
• Performs preventative maintenance as specified by supervision.
• Cleans up work area when finished with a job.
• Promotes a positive work environment as evidenced by quality service and positive staff attitudes.
• Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of CHMC through
performing behaviors consistent with the CHMC Standards of Performance and Code of Ethics.

Personal Protective Equipment:
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Qualifications:
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Required Credential(s):
• Must possess valid State of Michigan Operator’s License with a good driving record at time of
hire/transfer date required. Must meet approval by insurance carrier to drive hospital vehicles
• One or more of the following:
• Valid State of Michigan Master Plumber license.
• Valid State of Michigan Journeyman Plumber license.
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant experience as Journeyman s plumber may be
considered in lieu of high school diploma.
Work Experience:
• Two (2) or more years job related experience required.
