About the Job
An industrial plumber is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal in commercial and industrial buildings.

- Work in a safe manner that is in compliance with safety, environmental, and Facilities department policies and procedures.
- Support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
- Be a member of the Sherman Emergency Response Team (ERT) and complete the annual HAZWOPER training, participate in all required training classes, response scenarios, annual physical and respirator fit testing (employees who cannot pass the required ERT physical will be given a waiver).
- Responds to Facility Work Orders from building occupants.
- Perform acceptance tests of new equipment.
- Industrial fixed, rotating, and electrical equipment such as pumps, piping, valves, motors and fans.
- Inspect the installation of equipment and systems for conformance with plans and specifications.
- Prepare or modify existing operating and maintenance procedures.
- Order supplies and prepare maintenance service reports
- Use, maintain, and repair plumbing tools and equipment.
- Perform specialized work related to water, gas and waste systems
- Support complex troubleshooting of facilities equipment and associated failures
- Partner with other Technicians and Management in identifying training requirements and safety procedures.
- Partner with Engineers and Technicians on various facilities projects
- Perform additional duties as assigned and assist other specialty areas as required.
- Must be on-call and work off-hours when necessary to maintain efficient operation of facilities.
- Consistently works on complex assignments with high degree of independence and initiative to resolve root cause.
- Work from technical manuals, specifications, drawings, schematics and verbal instruction.
- Perform maintenance duties including maintaining Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules, PM reports, troubleshooting reports and re-order, maintain and organize equipment spare parts.
- Update PM documents as necessary.
- Train personnel on equipment maintenance.
- Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience Profile
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of state indentured plumbing apprenticeship or equivalent preferred.
- Technical degree, mechanical training, or plumbing certification preferred.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
- Respond to emergency call-ins
- Work in a hot and humid environment.
- Work at heights.
- Able to work alone or as assigned with other craftsmen.
- Proven ability to perform safely.
Required Skills:
- Current Texas license
- Ability to read blueprints ,drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems
- Testing pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
- Trouble shooting
- Repairing leaks and malfunctions
- Copper Pro-press
- Pipe threading ( carbon/stainless steel )
- Tubing bending
- Up to date on Texas codes
