Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician III Plumber to join the Institute’s Facilities Team.
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician III Plumber will perform routine and emergency maintenance, repair, modification and install, maintains and repairs a wide variety of commercial plumbing systems. Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies and maintains plumbing fixtures in heating; water and drainage systems. This will also include identifying plumbing, and safety problems applicable to the installation and take necessary corrective action. The individual will perform necessary clerical duties associated with job and must able to read blue prints. Must be available for weekend on-call duties occasionally. Will perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of directly-related maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Prior documented experience working with plumbing, Journeyman’s plumber license MM-1 is required.
Must have demonstrated skills in plumbing installation, maintenance and repair. Must have knowledge of steam, water and natural gas distribution, system maintenance and repair. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of plumbing problems. This position requires the ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures. Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the plumbing trade.
Must be able to complete associated paperwork and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Requires computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
A Post-offer background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
Relocation may be offered for this position.
Physical Requirements:Work is performed in a variety of settings including office and laboratory environments, as well as in outdoor areas. Will frequently stand, walk, sit, kneel, crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, etc.), reach/work overhead, frequently lift/carry/push/pull heavy objects that weigh up to 50 pounds and perform desk-based computer tasks. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator. Will work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.
