Minimum Qualifications is any of the following:
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of an accredited plumbing trade school or equivalent experience. NICET Certified inspecting, testing and maintaining water based fire systems.
Experience:
Four years’ experience in the operation, maintenance, installation and testing of building plumbing & fire systems plumbing. Back flow prevention, facility operations & maintenance experience is highly desirable.
I. BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and installing plumbing, heating, steam, water supply, fuel distribution, and other piping systems. Maintains and repairs fire protection water piping and sprinkler systems, pumps, oversees back flow prevention program, and water treatment equipment. Tests and treats industrial water systems. Work also includes general facility maintenance, carpentry, painting, locksmith, and janitorial and outside cleanup work. Responsible for performing single person shift work, operating, maintaining, inspecting, testing and repairing engineering facility systems. These systems include electrical, (HVAC) heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, water, fuel, air, fire, facility monitoring and control and other associated systems. Maintains operations and maintenance records. Accomplishes shift schedule duties as assigned, including emergency response and janitorial tasks.
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Operates, maintains, installs, repairs, and inspects all plumbing that supports site systems. This includes air, heating, steam, fuel, water, fire protection water and sprinklers back flow prevention devices and industrial water treatment.
2. Maintains, repairs, inspects, cleans and paints facility floors, walls, ceilings, doors, stairs and building hardware. Also included, are outside pavements, grounds, and exterior facilities. Performs general carpentry, painting and locksmith work.
3. Performs single person facility shift work.
4. Operates, maintains, inspects, tests, and repairs engineering facility systems. Systems include electrical, (HVAC), heating ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, water, fuel, air, fire, facility monitoring and control and other associated systems.
5. Utilizes technical publications, diagrams, to accomplish and document maintenance and repair. Completes all shift schedule duties including emergency response and janitorial duties.
III. SUPERVISION:

B. Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Facility Lead Technician. Work is checked for results achieved. Defines own work assignments within specific guidelines.
IV. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
A. Physical Tasks
Walking, climbing, lifting not to exceed 50 pounds, negotiating tight places, using tools and equipment, etc., associated with maintaining industrial type systems and equipment.
B. Working Conditions
Must be able to work any of three 8 hour shifts, or a combination of shifts, as assigned, to cover continuous facility operation. Must be able to work overtime as required. Some work areas require hearing protection.
C. Clearance Requirements:
- Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
- Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance.
