Job Description
Thinking Minds Inc.’s client is seeking a PLC Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for industrial processes. The role requires a hands-on professional skilled in programming, testing, and maintaining PLC-based systems to ensure the efficiency and reliability of manufacturing operations.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers and technicians, to develop robust automation solutions. Your ability to analyze system requirements, troubleshoot issues, and optimize processes will be instrumental in achieving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- PLC Development: Design, program, and implement PLC solutions for controlling industrial processes and machinery.
- System Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and technicians to understand system specifications and requirements.
- Testing & Debugging: Test and troubleshoot PLC programs to ensure they meet performance standards and functionality.
- Maintenance & Upgrades: Regularly update and maintain PLC systems to optimize performance and reliability.
- System Integration: Integrate PLC systems with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) technologies.
- Technical Support: Provide guidance to maintenance and operations teams on PLC-related concerns.
- Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of program codes, configurations, and system specifications.
- Stay Current: Keep up with advancements in PLC technology and suggest improvements to enhance existing systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in PLC programming or a similar role in manufacturing/industrial environments.
- Proficient in PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, and function block diagrams.
- Familiarity with PLC hardware/software platforms like Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and Mitsubishi.
- Experience integrating automation systems with HMI and SCADA solutions (preferred).
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
