Job Title: PLC Application Engineer
Location: Remote (Charleston, SC area) – 50% travel required
Job Summary:
Aegis is partnered with a growing manufacturing company in the wastewater industry. We are seeking a skilled PLC Application Engineer, bringing expertise in custom industrial automation solutions. In this role, you will program, design, and deploy custom PLC-based systems primarily using Allen Bradley platforms. You will work directly with clients to develop solutions tailored to their project specifications, providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including installation, commissioning, and testing. This position requires extensive travel (50%) to client sites for on-site support, troubleshooting, and system validation.
Key Responsibilities:
- PLC Programming: Develop custom PLC programs from scratch, primarily using Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation) systems to meet specific project requirements.
- HMI Configuration: Design and program Human-Machine Interface (HMI) applications, ensuring intuitive and efficient operator interfaces.
- Electrical Design: Collaborate on electrical design processes, creating electrical schematics and layouts for custom automation projects.
- Custom Solutions Development: Work closely with clients to understand project requirements and develop tailored automation solutions, integrating custom hardware and software components.
- Remote Technical Support: Provide remote troubleshooting and support to clients, resolving technical issues and ensuring project objectives are met.
- Installation, Commissioning, and Testing: Travel to client sites for equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and functional testing, ensuring optimal system performance.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in PLC programming, ideally with Allen Bradley systems.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with HMI software, electrical design tools, and experience with custom automation solutions.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 50% to client sites.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Problem Solving: Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a strong attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a variety of automation platforms.
- Familiarity with remote support tools and protocols.
