Platform Systems Software Engineer - FBOSS - Meta

Summary:

FBOSS team is a software team in Network Infrastructure group, that empowers network devices we use in our data centers. FBOSS stands for Facebook Open Switching System, and it's a software stack running on the network switches in Meta’s data centers across the world. We work on some of the most critical infrastructure challenges at Meta. Our current focus is building networking switch platforms for our AI clusters that power large language models (LLM) for Generative AI, Recommendation engine, and Metaverse. Our team - FBOSS Platform SW team - works on all the stages of network switches, from defining new switch requirements, to hardware/software design, software development, along with getting the latest Linux kernels for our switch platforms and supporting them in operations.

Required Skills:

Platform Systems Software Engineer - FBOSS Responsibilities:

1. Design and implement Platform services such as programming, monitoring, and controlling system components (Optics, PHY, FPGAs, sensors, fan control, power etc).

2. Design and implement kernel device drivers and services.

3. Own workstreams focussed on hardware bringup, BSP/SDK bringup, Platform services bringup, and lead the cross-functional effort to complete Engineering validation of new switches.

4. Debug complex, system-level, multi-component issues that typically span across multiple layers from Kernel, and user-mode applications.

5. Lead debugging and performance tuning exercises

6. Profile performance problems and drive optimizations that span the entire software stack.

7. Understand software components from multiple partner teams, lead the integration of those components into the unified product code base, and drive their continued development.

8. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

9. Software Engineering experience in embedded systems.

10. 5+ Years experience working on systems software in a large-scale C/C++ code base.

11. Experience in hardware bringup using interfaces like I2C, SPI, GPIO etc.

12. Experience in one or more of the following areas: BSP/Board Support Package, Operating Systems, IPC, RTOS, Bootloader, Power Management, Linux.

13. Experience with Software Development processes including: source control, bug tracking, and design documentation.

14. 3+ years of experience with networking products (switches, routers, adapters)

15. 5+ Years experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases that span platforms and tools.

17. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in large cross-functional teams.

Public Compensation:

$70.67/hour to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
