Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Plastics Process Technician to join our team. The technician will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining plastic injection molding and/or extrusion equipment to produce high-quality plastic products. This role requires technical expertise in plastics processing, troubleshooting abilities, and a strong focus on safety and quality. The ideal candidate will play a key part in optimizing production processes, ensuring efficiency, and maintaining production standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot injection molding or extrusion machines to ensure efficient production of plastic parts.
- Adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, speed) and material flow to meet production requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration on equipment.
- Monitor production runs, making adjustments as needed.
- Inspect products for defects and quality issues.
- Assist with mold, die, and tooling changes, ensuring proper setup and alignment.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to conduct product testing and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of machine settings, production output, and maintenance logs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues promptly to ensure continuous operation.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in plastics processing or related field preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in plastic injection molding, extrusion, or related processes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues with machines, materials, and processes.
- Knowledge of plastics materials and their properties, along with a solid understanding of processing conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and process documentation.
- Experience with quality control procedures and the ability to monitor and improve product quality.
- Familiarity with machine control systems and process monitoring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills.
