About the Job
The Production Manager provides leadership and directs manufacturing personnel in the safe, efficient, high quality manufacture and on time production of the company’s products in accordance with our mission and core values. Aligns closely with, supply chain, sales, finance and the operations team to achieve the overall goals, objectives, mission and vision of the organization.
Functions:
- Lead and oversee all production supervisory staff including but not limited to training, development, coaching, and mentoring.
- Coordinate activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
- Live and promote the company’s continuous improvement culture; Design, implement, audit, and maintain continuous improvement programs in support of best practices and efficient and effective manufacturing processes.
- Full accountability for activities occurring on each shift including safety, production outputs, quality, downtime, scrap, repairs, and others. Work proactively and cooperatively with other functional areas to maintain effective channels of communication and accountability, ensuring seamless production activities on a 24x7 basis.
- Lead, participate or liaise in the documentation of Operations procedures, processes, standards, and any other activity requiring documentation and formality.
- Collaborate in decision making concerning layout, size and range of products and services, and the design and organization of work processes.
- Balance and oversee operational activities including but not limited to production, quality, inventory control, rework, sampling, preparation of upcoming molds, tools, equipment, and supplies, screw cleaning, color consolidation.
- Drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) including changeovers, preplanning of activity over the subsequent 36-hour period with molds, dies, equipment and raw materials. Accountability for shift’s individual and collective scrap generation.
- Maintain current knowledge of and effectively utilize various databases and IQMS system. Train and assist shift Team Leaders and back-ups in the effective utilization of same. Input data in a timely and accurate manner and facilitate reporting.
Requirements:
- 4-year degree required; emphasis in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Business, or Quality strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in a related industry or discipline with focus on operational excellence. Experience in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering very beneficial.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a management role.
- Intermediate to advanced level technical ability. Intermediate to advanced understanding and demonstrated use of lean. Particular expertise in ERP and or CRM systems, Microsoft Windows and Office Suite including Power Point, and Internet.
