About the Job
The Plant Manager is accountable to the VP of Operations for managing the maintenance department and overseeing the day to day compliance of all policies and procedures; translating the company vision and strategy into a working plan; providing leadership and training to maintenance staff.
Scope:
- Drive Customer and Quality focus in day to day activities
- Implement manufacturing strategies and processes to support the company’s vision and strategic initiatives
- Establish group and individual accountabilities for achieving on time delivery, quality, and cost targets
- Manage all aspects of the production floor including: developing supervisors and associates, solving problems and ensuring solutions are implemented rapidly and permanently, budget planning, employment decisions and performance assessments related to direct repots, team leaders, and associates
- Manage tactical day to day performance including: setting and hitting production commitments, coordination with off-shift activities. Emphasizes product flow, implements systems to communicate/resolve production issues, focuses on cross-training
- Continually improve safety record by addressing physical safety issues and attitudes
- Improve and maintain housekeeping in all areas using a 5S approach
- Creates and encourages an environment for continuous improvement
- Actively participates in the review process for new product launches
Requirements:
- 10+ years experience in fast paced hard goods manufacturing environment. 5+ years in a supervisory or managerial role in a LEAN manufacturing environment. Experience in a Tier 1 or 2 automotive supplier or in a remanufacturing operation is highly desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations Management
- 5S training or certification
- Metrics driven
- Systems savvy – comfortable using ERP system to manage and improve production
- A self-starter with a contagious level of enthusiasm and high energy
- A leader with a team oriented focus, that has the ability to work independently when necessary
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with management and associates while aligning with and supporting the company culture
- Superior problem solving skills and the focus and ability to drill down to the root cause and source crucial details
- Innovative, creative and confident – willing to take a risk with problem solving ideas
- Demonstrated upward career progression showing capability of moving beyond this to a Director of Operations type role in the future
