Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Plant Manager to join our team. This entry-level management position will provide essential support in various operational aspects of our plant. The successful candidate will focus on key responsibilities such as material identification, inventory control, and production scheduling. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and grow in a hands-on environment, with opportunities to develop their skills in manufacturing and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Identification:
- Accurately identify and categorize various materials used in our processes. This foundational skill is critical as it impacts all other operational areas, including inventory management and production quality.
- Spend significant time on the plant floor to gain firsthand experience with materials, processes, and equipment.
Inventory Control:
- Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels to ensure that production schedules are met without delays. This includes conducting regular inventory audits and reconciling discrepancies.
- Work closely with the senior management team to develop inventory strategies that maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
Basic Mechanical Knowledge:
- Utilize basic mechanical skills to assist in the operation and maintenance of processing equipment. This may involve troubleshooting minor mechanical issues and coordinating with maintenance personnel when necessary.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance mechanical skills and understanding of plant machinery.
Basic Safety Knowledge:
- Understand and actively promote safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment for all employees. This includes adhering to OSHA regulations and participating in safety training programs.
- Conduct routine safety checks and assist in implementing safety improvements.
Organizational & Flow Control Skills:
- Help develop and maintain organized workflows and processes that enhance productivity and reduce bottlenecks. This involves working with various teams to streamline operations.
- Utilize software tools to track production metrics and assist in reporting on performance.
Production Scheduling:
- Assist in creating and managing production schedules to meet customer demands and ensure timely delivery of products. This includes coordinating with different departments to align resources effectively.
- Monitor production progress and make adjustments to schedules as needed to accommodate unforeseen changes.
Shipping & Receiving Scheduling:
- Coordinate shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and finished products. This involves working closely with logistics partners and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments and receipts to support inventory management.
Inside Sales Support:
- Engage in inside sales activities, including communicating with customers, responding to inquiries, and providing product information. This role may involve occasional travel to meet clients and suppliers.
- Collaborate with the sales team to support customer engagement and enhance overall sales strategies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in a relevant field (e.g., manufacturing, business management) is a plus.
- Basic mechanical and safety knowledge; familiarity with industrial equipment is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and external partners.
- Ability to work both on-site and remotely, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with forklift operation is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
