EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
* Advanced degree preferred
* Progressive experience in Operations Management with a minimum of 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment in a management role
* Preferred manufacturing experience in the wire/cable industry, insulation processing, steel industry or other related field
* Preferred experience with implement Lean and Six Sigma value added solutions
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Lean and/or Six Sigma Certification highly desirable
ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
The Plant Manager is responsible for efficiently managing all aspects of plant operations working within the Essex Furukawa structure and partnering with other departments in the organization to achieve the best production, financial, and organizational results. The Plant Manager is responsible for developing and creating a collaborative environment of continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead the Operations to create Best-In-Class magnet wire operations through the use of Lean/Six Sigma tools with focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost improvements.
* Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing operations which ensure the most effective return on assets.
* Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
* Ensure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while insuring product standards that will exceed our customers' expectations.
* Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports Essex Furukawa's strategic initiatives.
* Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need.
* Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving.
* Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume. Understand the overall financial health of the plant and how to positively impact profit, margins, etc.
* Assure that collective bargaining agreements are effectively administered; partner with Human Resources to address grievances and create a positive, collaborative working relationship with Union membership.
* Work to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees in an engaged and participative working environment.
* Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
* Maintain individual skills keeping up to date with latest production and production management concepts.
