What you will do
The Plant HR Manager serves as a business partner to the site leadership team by developing and delivering integrated and inclusive HR services. Under general direction and within Corporate policy and procedure, administers the human resources activities for the plant to achieve the plant objectives through effective and efficient human resources management. Plans, develops, and implements necessary procedures and directs the people strategy of the plant. Counsel, advise and make recommendations where appropriate to assist plant leadership in carrying out assigned duties to reduce risk.
How you will do it
- Manages and executes HR processes, including talent engagement and development, managerial training and coaching, performance management, employee relations & case management, FMLA and return-to-work procedures, merit/salary planning, with a special skill set for metrics, KPIs, and planning.
- Understands labor agreement administration, interpretation, enforcement, grievance procedures. May be co-negotiator in labor negotiations. Leads change initiatives through excellent motivational and consultation skills for hourly (80%) and salaried (20%) plant employees.
- Advises and counsels plant leadership, managers, and supervisors on a variety of topics to build up & sustain employee engagement, team development, and organizational effectiveness.
- Nurtures, mentors, and leads the existing HR team - an HR Generalist and HR Coordinator.
- Works side-by-side with our corporate RPO vendor to ensure recruiting success through great planning, candidate experience, interviewing decisions, and orientation and early acclimation of our newest hires.
What we look for
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field w/ at least six years’ experience as a human resources generalist or manager, specifically in a manufacturing environment
- Labor Relations experience and / or exposure to grievances, arbitration and negotiations is required - with a keen willingness to learn and build relationships with our union quickly.
- Flexible hours are necessary so at least one person from the HR team can be present M-F from 6:30am until 5:30pm (to make sure someone is present for each shift).
- Experience taking data and using that as a tool to make improvements.
Preferred
- SPHR or PHR certification preferred - absolute expertise and credibility in HR topics is required.
- Someone who can handle the constant interruptions of a typical day with grace without losing momentum and focus on the important bigger picture strategies and projects.
