About the Job
The Plant Engineering Tech is responsible for providing engineering support for all aspects of the design process. This role will engage in research, design activities and provide technical counsel to others within the organization to ensure the highest levels of product functionality, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction to enable KPS Global to meet organizational goals and business objectives.
Major Responsibilities
üAssisting with the development of product design and functionality, addressing customer requirements and specifications
üDetailing, documenting, and maintaining required product design manuals and standards used in daily operational activities including Manufacturing Engineering Standards (MES) and Engineering Change Notifications (ECN)
üIdentifying and recommending corrective action for any issues with product design
üAnalyzing elements of new design concepts or processes and assessing feasibility and effectiveness; making appropriate recommendations to management
üAnalyzing test data and reports to determine if product design meets functional and performance standards and specifications, as well as having overall business viability
üDesigning and giving guidance to the construction of test products sent to outside lab test centers; will interface with lab staff as required
üUsing engineering test results to assess possible alternate uses of the technology or product design
üInterfacing with others within the organization, as well as customers, to jointly identify customer needs and feasible solutions
üProviding manufacturing support to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality and application of the design; gives guidance on prototype assemblies as well
üEngaging in failure analysis, determining appropriate corrective action and ensuring release of all affected staff and departments
üProviding consultation to outside vendors or subcontractors for proper application and use of product
üFulfilling the financial control and risk management responsibilities inherent in the position
üConducting yourself in accordance with the Company Code of Ethics policy at all times
Required Skills
üIntermediate level f skills in MS Office programs and AutoCAD 2000, Inventor, and 3D modeling software
üExcellent interpersonal, communication, speaking, writing, and math skills
üStrong project management skills and the ability to interpret test results, think analytically, and have a pervasive level of knowledge regarding the limitations and applications of the product
üFamiliarity with electrical wiring diagrams and a basic understanding of a manufacturing environment
üComfortable with engineering terminology and an ability to do geometric and trigonometric calculations and read blue prints
üSome knowledge of carpentry/construction preferred in addition to a basic understanding of properties of steel, wood, and urethane; ability to conceptualize 2D and 3D shapes
üAbility to meet commitments and respond promptly to customer needs
üProven ability to take a total quality approach to all work and service opportunities
üDemonstrated safety awareness and commitment to associate safety
Required Experience
üAssociate degree in Design Engineering or related field is preferred with preference given to candidate’s with a bachelor’s degree
üMinimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably in residential or commercial construction, manufactured housing, or refrigerated warehouses
üTechnical writing background and building code familiarity preferred
