About the Job
THE POSITION
The Plant Electrical Engineer provides technical support for electrical infrastructure, machinery and ancillary equipment. The primary responsibility is to ensure continual operation & safety of the manufacturing processes; however, the Plant Electrical Engineer will frequently assist in Production Engineering projects to promote productivity, quality and cost reduction improvements. This individual ensures compliance with regulatory, statutory, and company requirements and will interface with internal customers and external contractors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to Maintenance for electronic drives, electrical systems and Programmable Logic Controllers.
- Able to program PLCs
- Provide solutions for obsolete technology for which replacement parts are difficult to obtain
- Assist Production and Maintenance in the start-up and operation of new equipment
- Procure materials, supplies, equipment, and services
- Provide instruction and supervise electrical sub-contractors
- Develop specifications, plan, schedule, and provide cost estimates for capital projects and equipment upgrades.
- Perform modifications to existing equipment and recommend new technologies for improved process control, reliability, and safety
- Able to read electrical schematics and use measuring equipment
- Analyze production and engineering data to recommend proactive engineered solutions to eliminate safety risks, improve quality and optimize productivity. Leverage AI, IIoT and automation solutions.
- Provide technical guidance to all departments on engineered solutions to support SQDC.
- Conduct periodic surveys and inspections of manufacturing equipment to comply with code requirements, identify safety hazards, prevent accidents, and conserve company property.
- Develop and deliver technical training to technical and non-technical Team Members. Support problem investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. Includes use of pokayoke devices.
- Partner with manufacturing managers on the existence, utilization, condition and/or operation of manufacturing equipment. Lead continuous improvement, define advanced manufacturing capabilities and implement approved manufacturing capability changes.
- Support manufacturing process design, equipment selection, capability validation and process maintenance activities.
- Other duties may be assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Education/Experience: Bachelor degree (BS) in an electrical engineering discipline with 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or chemical environment is preferred.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and contractors. Fluent in English. Japanese as a second language is helpful.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical and statistical concepts and formulas in all units of measure is required.
