Job Details
Well established, international company is seeking a hands-on Plant Controller to oversee the accounting and finance operations of it’s manufacturing facility. The Plant Controller will be a key member of the plant leadership team, and will contribute to overall organizational management and will help ensure compliance with laws and regulations. The Plant Controller will be responsible for all financial planning and analysis and results reporting, and will provide recommendations to management to improve the Company’s performance.
Responsibilities:
· Manage all accounting operations
· Manage all accounting operations including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Inventory/Cost Accounting, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and Revenue Recognition
· Manage month-end closing and prepare/review journal entries and account reconciliations
· Prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports
· Analyze manufacturing and profit and loss variances and communicates explanations to management with recommended actions
· Work closely with engineering and operations to validate the accuracy of bill of materials, labor routings, and cost structure
· Prepare forecasts of income statement, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows for the Plant
· Train and supervise direct reports and support their continued professional development
· Shares best practices across the finance team, e.g. process improvements, financial modeling and procedures changes
· Provides proactive consultation, interpretation, and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions
· Collaborates with Plant Manager and others to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations, and lead the development of complex analysis
· Monitor and implement plant internal controls as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks
· Owns and manages the annual physical inventory process
· Work with third party accounting firm to facilitate annual financial statement review, tax return preparation, and work with corp finance team on consolidated financial statement audit
Requirements:
· 10 Years of progressive experience in accounting including 2 or more years of leadership experience
· Bachelors degree in accounting
· Extensive experience with cost accounting, manufacturing variance analysis, and inventory management
· Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills
· Knowledge of Canadian generally accepted accounting principles and US GAAP
· Highly proficient working with data sets in Microsoft Excel and other BI tools
· Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to work with all stakeholders
· May be asked to travel to other company locations periodically
