Plant Controller
LuxWall is focused on the product development, scaling and commercializing of innovative glass products and solutions for the built environment. LuxWall’s transparent insulation technology, Enthermal Glass, provides a step change in energy performance by significantly reducing convective, conductive, and radiative heat gain and heat loss in buildings. Acting as a transparent thermos bottle for building, LuxWall has the potential to reduce global carbon emissions by more than 0.5 gigaton per year with mass adoption. Enthermal Glass will forever change the way buildings are designed and constructed for the future sustainability of our plant.
The Plant Controller position is accountable for the financial and accounting operations of the Litchfield site. The Controller will direct the financial operations of the Litchfield site including budgeting, planning, capital control and manufacturing efficiency improvements. This role is integral to our manufacturing operations, focusing on optimizing plant operations through strategic accounting and finance management. The position involves taking ownership of the full site P&L, cashflow and balance sheet, providing critical financial insights, and driving operational efficiencies.
Position Responsibilities
- Serve as an operational partner to the plant manager and other plant leads, providing KPIs & insights that influence decision-making
- Support plant operations by identifying cost drivers and process improvement opportunities
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve financial and operational performance
- Develop bottle neck analysis to identify plant constraints and financial impact associated with each
- Partner with operations teams to manage inventory levels and minimize obsolescence.
- Maintain DIO, DSO and DPO to company targets
- Conduct regular audits of inventory and production processes to ensure accurate costing and efficiency.
- Analyze capital expenditure proposals, prepare justifications, and monitor project budgets
- Track capital spending and ensure timely completion of projects within budgeted costs
- Develop and manage the plant’s annual budget and financial forecasts
- Perform detailed variance analysis, identifying areas of improvement and providing actionable recommendations
- Analyze and report on manufacturing costs, including direct labor, raw materials, and overhead.
- Implement cost-saving measures, monitor performance against targets, and ensure continuous improvement in cost control.
- Develop robust financial analysis capabilities for manufacturing including implementing appropriate WBS and ABC accounting methodologies
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and compliant financial statements.
- Manage the general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
- Ensure proper accounting for capital expenditures, depreciation, and fixed assets.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing required documentation and support during audit processes.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
- 10-15 years or more experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in using SAP and manufacturing software and systems
- Exemplary history of financial project management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, SAP or related software
Work Environment
- 50% Plant floor (PPE required)
- Requires working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, chemicals, and varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Constant communication with employees, peers and management
- Overtime as required
- Frequent requirement of handling heavy equipment (operation)
- Frequent need to give concentrated attention to surroundings
