Aries Clean Technologies designs, develops, and operates biosolids gasification facilities in the US. Aries is seeking to hire a Plant Controller reporting directly to the company CFO.
The Plant Controller provides leadership and owns the financial operations of the Plant including budgeting, forecasting, financial and operation reporting and procurement administration. The Plant Controller must collaborate with plant management to analyze and optimize processes, identify cost-reduction opportunities and enhance profitability. This position will provide financial direction to the plant and provide recommendations to improve site performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the financial activities within the plant operations, including annual budgeting process, monthly forecasts, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and operational reporting including variance analysis and commentary.
- Ensure that proper processes are in place for the accurate forecasting and tracking of revenue, operating and general and administrative costs, contractor costs, capital expenditures and working capital.
- Serve as business partner to the Plant General Manager and Plant Management Team to provide clear understanding of budgets, forecasts, and status compared to the budget and forecasts and provide financial and operational analysis of results.
- Lead and own the procurement administration processes for the plant and ensure compliance to associated internal controls and adherence to budget and forecasts.
- Leads and directs preparation of local tax compliance - sales/use tax, property tax and other local taxes in conformity with state, and local regulations.
- Ensure that corporate reporting requirements are met in a timely fashion, working closely with the Accounting and Financial Planning and Analysis Teams.
- Manage the capital expenditure process including working with plant management on analysis of significant projects. Ensure detailed capital expenditure tracking in place for all projects.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses as requested.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 3 to 5 years prior experience as Plant or Operations Controller
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting and cost analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong leadership qualities, superior communication skills and high sense of initiative and ownership
- Knowledge of GAAP principles and internal controls
- Highly proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Expertise in accounting and procurement systems and a focus on operational finance
- Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multi-task, and build sound relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Must be capable of working with ambiguity and change.
