Plant Controller
The Plant Controller will serve as a crucial business partner to plant and financial management, effectively managing and controlling the local business operations. This role oversees daily accounting activities, from project budget management to operational stages within the plant. The Controller is accountable for the plant’s accounting practices, maintenance of fiscal records, and preparation of financial reports.

Base Pay Range: $125,000 - $150,000

The Plant Controller will serve as a crucial business partner to plant and financial management, effectively managing and controlling the local business operations. This role oversees daily accounting activities, from project budget management to operational stages within the plant. The Controller is accountable for the plant’s accounting practices, maintenance of fiscal records, and preparation of financial reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Planning
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the annual budget.
- Contribute to the annual strategic planning process and develop operational objectives aligned with Corporate strategies.
- Prepare and deliver the plant financial forecasts and projections.
Financial and Operational Controls
- Ensure an effective system of internal controls, including data integrity, asset protection, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with corporate policies and regulations (GAAP, SOX).
- Communicate responsibilities for internal controls clearly and ensure processes are documented and followed.
- Lead proactive development of contingency plans, productivity improvements, and corrective actions to optimize financial results.
Reporting and Analysis
- Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information.
- Report on and analyze operating results, performance against budget, and financial effectiveness.
- Manage the monthly closing process and communicate results effectively to management and non-financial personnel.
- Provide risk analysis for contingency planning.
Driving Plant Profitability
- Lead actions to achieve targets, mitigate risks, and prioritize resource needs.
- Provide investment analysis and educate plant personnel on key performance metrics.
Plant Process and Administrative Leadership
- Collaborate with the site leadership team to develop projects that improve productivity.
- Manage and develop the accounting/finance department staff, fostering continuous improvement and career growth.
- Experience in ERP implementation/training/change management is a plus.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications Required:
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- 5-10 years as a plant controller or cost manager in a manufacturing environment, with experience in cost accounting, reporting, and variance analysis.
- Proven ability to develop credibility and build strong professional relationships with all levels of staff.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Proficient in accounting systems and financial practices, with the ability to analyze financial and operational information for decision-making.
- Proficient in Microsoft products, database software, and applicable accounting/financial software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
