Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Controller to join our team in the aerospace industry. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of cost accounting and manufacturing finance, specifically within a complex, high-precision environment. The Plant Controller will be responsible for managing all financial activities related to the production facility, including budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making with a strong focus on cost control and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting & Analysis:
Lead and oversee cost accounting activities, including cost allocation, variance analysis, and identification of cost-saving opportunities.
Prepare and maintain standard costing models, analyze direct and indirect costs, and manage inventory costing.
Perform detailed cost analyses to assess product margins, production efficiency, and overall financial performance.
Analyze labor, material, and overhead costs to ensure accuracy in product cost structures.
Ensure proper tracking of work in progress (WIP), and inventory, while managing scrap and rework costs.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Provide detailed financial analysis and commentary on plant performance, identifying areas of concern and recommending actions for improvement.
Collaborate with the operations team to interpret financial data and provide insights into production and cost optimization.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Lead the annual budget process, working closely with plant leadership to establish realistic financial goals and forecasts.
Monitor and track performance against budget, identifying and addressing any variances promptly.
Update financial forecasts on a monthly/quarterly basis, ensuring they reflect current business conditions and assumptions.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting principles (GAAP), and government regulations related to aerospace industry standards (e.g., FAR, CAS).
Oversee the accuracy and integrity of all financial transactions and records, ensuring all plant financial operations comply with company policies and industry regulations.
Work with internal auditors to ensure audit preparedness and efficient execution of plant financial audits.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with the operations, supply chain, and procurement teams to support continuous improvement efforts, ensuring cost-effective manufacturing operations.
Provide financial support for capital expenditure requests, assisting in the financial evaluation of proposed investments.
Work closely with the plant leadership to improve production efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining high-quality standards.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for financial process improvements, automation, and integration within the plant’s accounting functions.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost controls, inventory management, and overall financial performance.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A CPA, CMA, or MBA is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in cost accounting and financial analysis in a manufacturing or aerospace setting.
Strong knowledge of aerospace industry cost structures, including direct/indirect labor, material, and overhead costs.
Experience with cost modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in a plant or manufacturing environment.
Skills:
Expertise in cost accounting principles and financial analysis.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance within the aerospace industry.
Ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
This position requires full-time, on-site work in a manufacturing plant setting.
Occasional travel to other plant locations or for meetings as required.
