WRT is seeking a talented 2025 Summer Intern to join our Planning and Urban Design team in the Philadelphia office.
WRT is a dynamic practice of planners, urban designers, landscape architects, and architects based in Philadelphia and San Francisco, practicing across multiple scales nationally. WRT’s practice seeks to create impact in the communities we serve by championing our firm’s environmental ethos of designing with nature and reinforcing urbanism through our innovative work in design and planning. Our interdisciplinary team values the impact of our collective approach to improving cities while addressing the social and ecological challenges of our time.
To ensure that the issues and concerns most important to our clients are effectively addressed, we guide the development of projects through a process that depends upon a sound understanding of community values and aspirations, obtained through early and continuous citizen involvement, and a commitment to understanding the site-specific opportunities and challenges as a basis for strategic decision-making. We’re looking for a highly motivated candidate that shares WRT’s values and collaborative spirit to work on a variety of planning and urban design projects.
Pay Range: $23.00 - $26.00/hour

Responsibilities include:
- Informing projects with design ideas, context, and demographic, economic, and social trends
- Preparing visual communication graphics for presentations and engagement activities
- Conducting research, developing, and administering community engagement, providing quantitative and qualitative analysis including needs assessment analysis, mapping, writing, and preparing presentations, and assisting with plan design
- Hands-on learning experience through collaboration with active projects and project pursuits
- Working with team members in the Planning and Urban Design group and across the firm
- Meeting tight deliverable schedules
The ideal candidate will:
- Be enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a Master’s degree program in Planning, Urban Design, or a related field
- Have previous professional experience
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and interdisciplinary environment
- Have the ability to complete tasks independently with strong attention to detail
- Possess exceptional written, verbal, and graphic communication skills (diagrams, sketches, maps, modeling, infographics)
- Be creative, self-motivated, and interested in evolving planning challenges and opportunities in resiliency and climate, housing needs, smart cities, engaging communities, and social equity
- Be able to synthesize and simplify complex information and present it graphically
- Be proficient in: Rhino, ArcGIS Pro, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint); AutoCAD, Adobe After Effects or Lumion experience is a plus
