About the Job
- Support project managers and engineers for capital and O & M projects including planning, scheduling, schedule forecasting analysis, and closeout for Utility Operations. Builds and updates project schedules for projects owned by an assigned Project Manager. Directs the overall project plan and project schedule to establish milestone compliance measures and ensure project completion on time while coordinating with engineering, design, and project management.
- Support project managers and engineers for capital and O & M projects including planning, scheduling, schedule forecasting analysis, and closeout for Utility Operations.
- Builds project schedules for projects owned by an assigned Project Manager.
- Directs the overall project plan and project schedule to establish milestone compliance measures and ensure project completion on time while coordinating with engineering, design, and project management.
- Oversee monthly inputs from the various leads ﴾engineering, project management, subcontractors, and sites﴿ to identify and mitigate schedule risks.
- Generate project schedules, update tracking tools for the Operations Support Services Group, analyze schedule information, provide actionable recommendations, and generate required reports.
- Demonstrate knowledge of PM and/or industry standard methodologies and tools and provide technical expertise to projects.
- Coordinate and correlate schedule information with cost and resources to provide resource loaded schedules as needed based on project requirements.
- Coordinate project reporting to leads, monitor deliverables, coordinate work within or between departments.
- Generate and distribute monthly progress reports for project status including updated schedules by project owner, project region and individual project schedules, identified work delays and any other relevant project information.
- Review and analyze third party schedules for critical path, logic ties, etc.
- Implement process improvements to meet quality standards, performs feasibility studies and solves basic problems.
- Maintain the reports relative to progress / productivity, and project forecasts, to assist the Lead and Project Manager.
- Ensure the appropriate application of codes at the Project and activity level
- Set and maintain Project Baselines.
- Accountable for building project schedules for projects owned by the assigned Program Manager.
- Accountable for progressing each schedule at pre-defined intervals as defined by company in line with the company’s Reporting cycle (monthly)
- Accountable for ensuring consistency, accuracy, and integrity of all data housed within the Master schedule.
- Accountable to ensuring the life-cycle schedule is built and is maintained on a “rolling-wave” basis, where the time horizon for the most detailed planning is 2 years.
- The scheduler will utilize the company-provided P6 environment to manage the master schedule. There will be no other master schedule used other than the one that exists within company’s environment.
- Accountable for the incorporation into the Master Schedule, whether they exist within or outside of the company’s environment, information related to schedules provided by contractors.
- Accountable for ensuring the Master Schedule is built in a way that adheres to guidelines and instruction set forth by company.
- Accountable for analyzing cost forecasts to ensure schedule forecasts are in alignment, and responsible for escalating areas of mis-alignment to the project team.
- Accountable for identifying and communicating key risks or opportunities that emanate from the impacts of
- schedule delays or advancements.
- Accountable for ensuring outage requirements are incorporated into the schedule clearly, accurately, and consistently. · Accountable as point-person for all questions related to master schedule detail.
- The scheduler is expected to be a part of the Project Team and therefore is expected to take part in regularly scheduled project team meetings.
- In coordination with the cost analyst, hold regular monthly meetings with the project team(s) to review cost and schedule information concurrently, and identify / remedy areas of misalignment.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required. (BA/BS) in Engineering and /or Construction preferred 3 years of recent experience in Project or Program scheduling Knowledge of MS Project required, experience with Primavera P6 preferred. Considerable proven experience and expert knowledge in schedule analysis and development, including but not limited to: milestone management, baseline management, CPM, time contingencies, crashing, QA, etc. Experience in cost/resource loading is a plus Knowledge of other scheduling platforms is a plus. Experience in Electrical Utility or large-scale Construction industry preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP), AACE, or similar certification preferred.
- Ability to interface and coordinate work daily with other Authority divisions and external organizations.
- Effective communication and writing skills.
- Ability to view tasks logically, break them down into essential requirements, and generate a solution to meet the project goals.
- Ability to handle smaller projects from start to finish.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal daily supervision.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- Knowledge of MS Project required, experience with Primavera P6 preferred.
- Must be able to create and maintain EPS, WBS, and resources to provide actionable feedback to stakeholders regarding milestone adherence, resource loading and Earned Value.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge of SAP is a plus but not a requirement.
- Knowledge of Maximo is a plus but not a requirement.
