Job Description
GreenWood in Greer, SC, we are currently looking for applicants who are interested in a Temporary Full-Time, Non-Exempt position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, a minimum of 10 to 12 hours a day for 4 to 6 weeks. We do not pay per diem.
The Pipe Welder is responsible for completing welds on pipes according to specified standards. He/she performs the daily operations of, and the preparation for, assembly and repair of all pipe systems of various shapes, sizes, and pressures. Candidates must have knowledge regarding welding techniques and procedures; application of welding equipment; and utilizing welding knowledge per the customer drawings, specifications, or other form of instruction.
Responsibilities
- Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other material by applying appropriate welding techniques
- Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine appropriate welding process to be used
- Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness
- Assists with tests on new components, assemblies, and systems based on test criteria as established by the policies and procedures and/or written test plans
- Uses, maintains, and possesses required hand tools necessary to perform tasks assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the welding field (increased knowledge required with higher levels of this position)
- Excellent attention to detail, a focus on accuracy, and sense of urgency
- Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work
- Must be able to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and welding symbols
- Strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
- Must have the ability to use and provide personal hand tools and equipment common to Pipe Welder trade
- Greater than 5 years of experience in various forms of pipe welding with extensive knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the related field preferred
