Position Overview:

The Pipe and Equipment Insulation Mechanic will install, maintain, and repair insulation material on industrial pipes, equipment, and ductwork. They must be able to read highly technical instructions and blueprints on equipment systems. Must be willing to work in various conditions (wet/dry, clean/dirty, hot/cold, inside/outside).

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Measure and cut insulation materials to fit around pipes and equipment using tools like knives, saws, and tape measures.
  
• Apply insulation materials to pipes, tanks, vessels, and ductwork using adhesives, straps, or mechanical fasteners.
  
• Seal joints and seams to ensure proper insulation integrity.
  
• Install fire-stopping materials in designated areas.
• Inspect existing insulation for damage, wear, and deterioration.
  
• Repair or replace damaged insulation sections as needed.
  
• Remove and reapply insulation during equipment maintenance or modifications.
• Provides advice and recommendations to management concerning new pipe and equipment insulation.
• Conducts safety inspections of facilities.
• Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details.
• Assist with jobsite safety to comply with all OSHA regulations and the hth companies' Safety Program.
• Actively champions a positive workplace and safety culture.
• Performs various other duties and functions as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• Basic math skills.
• Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches.
• Thorough and broad understanding of a variety of equipment.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Thorough understanding of safety practices, guidelines, rules, and laws.
• Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Working understanding of safety principles, practices, and procedures.

Physical Abilities

• Ability to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis.
• Ability to climb Ladders and stairways regularly throughout the work shift.
• Ability to observe conditions and others as safety attendant staying alert while seated for long periods of time as needed.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other tools and equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
• Ability to perform inspections of site, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to perform behavioral observations focused on safety and process improvement.
• Ability to follow safety protocol and to report any incident, unsafe act, or unsafe condition immediately to the site supervisor and safety manager.

Training

• Must provide proof of successful completion of OSHA 10 hour within 60 days of starting at hth companies.
