Salary Range: $90-$110K (DOE)
Bonus: 10%
Summary Of Job:
The successful candidate for the Pilot Production Chemist position will work directly with other engineers, chemists, and operators to complete projects in support of process and product development. The PPC will facilitate the development and launch of brand-new chemistries to support the high growth markets in the semiconductors business. The PPC will supply intermediate products to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM).
Job Responsibilities:
- Produce routine lab-scale synthesis reactions.
- Produce trial products to customers and R&D.
- Evaluate raw material sources through lab and large-scale batches.
- Collaborate with R&D, PPL team members and Engineering on developing and optimizing chemical processes to move from small-scale laboratory synthesis to largescale industrial production.
- Conduct lab and pilot-scale experiments, define optimal conditions and recommendations.
- Collects and consolidates data during experiments and effectively shares these results with other groups, team members, and customers.
- Supports High Volume Manufacturing process transfer activities including writing manufacturing instructions, full-scale batch validation and training operators.
- Validate new trial product test specifications & methods and make recommendations before launching new products.
- Provide input in equipment design and specification for new processes.
- Acts as a lead in smaller projects investigating product failures or process improvement and can effectively communicate project progress to a larger audience.
- Gather data for shelf-life study and produce report as required.
- Participate in control plan and FMEA for new products.
- Assist in creating control limits of intermediate products made by PPL.
- Detailed documentation in laboratory notebooks.
- Improve existing manufacturing processes for better efficiency, yield, safety, and cost-effectiveness as required.
- Assess the safety risks associated with chemical processes and implementing safety measures to prevent accidents or hazardous conditions.
- Follow procedures in accordance with ISO and OHSAS standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- A BS in Chemistry is required with 5+ years of experience or a MS in Chemistry with 2+ years of experience.
- Strong understanding of organic chemistry, chemical synthesis, process engineering, and analytical techniques.
- Experience with statistics and experiment design in Minitab is a plus.
- Familiar with chromatography (HPLC, GPC, GC-MS), CVS and other analytical methods.
- Raises inquiries and problem solves by leveraging appropriate resources to drive issues to resolution.
- Ability to work in a high-pace environment while managing multiple priorities at one time.
- High ethical standards, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Well-organized and detail oriented. Precision in experimentation and process design.
