Job DescriptionThe Physician Recruiter reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Physician Recruiter is responsible for sourcing and recruiting qualified physicians for the medical staff of the hospital and assisting in the development of strategic physician recruitment in the institution. In addition, this position focuses on helping retain and strengthen the medical staff through practice enhancement and development activities. Serve as the hospital’s physician recruiter in order to engage targeted physician specialists and ancillary providers to enhance medical staff development at Northwestern Memorial Hospital while maintaining the mission of the Staffing Department. The Physician Recruiter exhibits keen strategic thinking abilities as related to competitive assessments of the market, contract execution, negotiation strategy, and a self-directed work style. The Physician Recruiter has an innate ability to establish new and maintain existing relationships with Northwestern Memorial affiliates and demonstrates enhanced problem-solving techniques. The Physician Recruiter must maintain the highest customer service standards, as measured by high productivity and consistent high quality that addresses the practice opportunities NMHC affiliates. Demonstrates poise and maturity when encountering unforeseen situations. This customer services standard must show a visibility of and responsibility toward patients and their families, the Medical staff, and throughout the NMHC campus partners. Excellent interpersonal skills in varying situations are imperative.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for coordination of the initial and on-going contact with physician applicants, assessment and screening of physicians’ backgrounds and interests.
- Build relationships with NMHC physicians and office staff.
- Work with physician practices, NM hospitals, physician representatives, recruitment agencies, and residents in developing and implementing ongoing physician and provider recruitment strategies and initiatives to ensure strategic goals and objectives.
- Enhance physician availability through utilizing national database tracking system to uncover a larger pool of physician candidates.
- Coordinates advertising and public relation strategies, to include special events, related to Physician and Provider recruitment, and is responsible for sourcing candidates using the most advanced methodologies to achieve cost effective and efficient recruitment processes. Provide extensive “value added” services/programs to resident campaign efforts in conjunction with Alumni Affairs, Graduate Medical Education, and the Feinberg School of Medicine.
- Provide summary of recruitment activity on a quarterly basis.
- Review and update current corporate website for best practices for physician recruitment
- Review, analyze, and provide updates of Medical Staff Diversity Initiative, communicate findings to manager, director, and director of the office of diversity.
- Work with Medical Directors to access their needs and potential recruitment plans.
- Coordinate all activities related to recruitment of physician candidates with NMHC physician leads.
- Implement new strategies in monitoring & tracking physicians & corresponding services to build relationship with potential candidates.
- Cultivate and foster successful marketing strategies for physician practices through a multi-disciplinary team approach of recruitment, retention, and development in collaboration with the Department of Business Development and Strategic Planning.
- Enhance recruitment procedures as related to other academic medical centers in the Chicago market through coordination of or actively participating in various educational programs, meetings and luncheons for recruitment proposes as related to the Illinois Staff Physician Recruiters Association.
- Working knowledge of physician contracts and compensation.
- Monitor activity of new candidates in submitting application for medical staff privileges.
- Facilitate transition of newly credentialed physician to the on-campus physician representative.
- Collaborate with intra-departmental staff & management ensuring enhanced medical staff development and improved outreach initiatives.
- Maintain routine communication with medical leadership
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a business office with a strong emphasis on recruitment and client experience.
- Proficient skill in Microsoft office including excel.
- Ability to serve all NM locations throughout the system.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to attend out of state conferences as needed
Preferred:
- Ability to relate to all levels of the organization such as medical leadership and other hospital executives.
- Proven success in physician recruitment.
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment, preferably with direct physician contact.
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload independently.
- Proficiency in computer software programs, i.e., Microsoft Word, and Excel
