Montefiore Health SystemDepartment of Psychiatry and Behavioral SciencesThe Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is nationally recognized as a leader in innovative models of adult and pediatric mental health care, public and community psychiatry, behavioral health integration, excellence in medical education and research, and an overarching commitment to advancing health equity. The Department will launch its first inpatient child and adolescent unit, the Montefiore Einstein Center for Childrens Mental Health (CCMH) in Winter 2025, with 21 beds, to be located across from the Einstein campus on space leased from the OMH within the New York City Childrens Center. This much needed unit will nearly double the number of acute pediatric psychiatry beds in the Bronx, providing state-of-the-art community focused care for youth in the Bronx and region. The new Montefiore Einstein Center for Childrens Mental Health will be a cornerstone within our thriving Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.The Department provides ambulatory services for children and adolescents at three Bronx-based campuses (Moses Child Outpatient Psychiatry Division, Wakefield Child Outpatient Psychiatry Division, and Montefiore Behavioral Health Center) and a Westchester-based faculty practice location (Montefiore Einstein Advanced Care). Attendings and trainees affiliated with the Department also provide pediatric psychiatric services in Montefiores School Health Program with locations in public elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the Bronx and through the student mental health service at Fordham University. Trainees also rotate under faculty supervision through the Rose F. Kennedy Childrens Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism. Specialty programs within ambulatory services including the Eating Disorders Program at Montefiore, Anxiety and Mood Program (AMP) Program, Becoming an Emerging Adult (BEAM) Program, Connecting and Reflecting Experience (CARE) Program, and Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy (A-DBT) Program. Project Rising is an addiction service within the Division of Substance Abuse (DOSA) oriented to youth with problem substance use and their families. The Departments first episode psychosis program is based within the Moses Adult Outpatient Psychiatry division as part of the NYC OnTrack Program. The Department also is one of seven academic centers who participate in NYS Project TEACH providing psychiatric consultation, education, and services to pediatricians and family practitioners throughout New York State.An Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) opened on the Wakefield campuses in the Fall of 2023. As one of only three Office of Mental Health (OMH) licensed adolescent IOPs in New York State, the program provides a much-needed higher level of care for youth in the region. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES?In collaboration with departmental leadership, the Director of Inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry will provide expert and visionary leadership to guide the inaugural launch and development of Inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Montefiore Einstein.?Oversee a multidisciplinary staff including psychiatry, nursing, psychology, social work and creative arts therapy ?Supervise and work with two board-certified inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry attendings?Provide direct care to a census of approximately 5-6 patients?Create a program culture conducive to professional development and well-being?Work closely with the training program directors, including the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Director, Adult Psychiatry Fellowship Director, and Director of Medical Student Education to support a high quality learning environment?Work closely with the director of Quality Improvement to advance quality and safety initiatives?Work with departmental leadership on recruitment and retention of outstanding and diverse clinician staff?Support a culture that values health equity and excellence in patient care, education, and research, promotes the wellness of staff and trainees, and advances diversity, equity, and inclusion.The position requires a dynamic, passionate, and experienced physician leader who is board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and has a proven track record of effectiveness, collegiality, integrity in leadership roles, and a strong knowledge of the educational, clinical, research, and community missions of a thriving Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division.The anticipated range of base salary for this position is $275,000-350,000, as well as signing bonus and leadership bonus opportunities, depending on achievement, experience, and academic rank of the successful candidate.
