The VA North Texas Health Care System is currently recruiting for Psychiatrist(s) to provide mental health care for our Veteran patients in various clinics and specialty areas in Dallas, Ft. Worth, Grand Prairie, Sherman, or Tyler, Texas. A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).
Basic Requirements
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program.
- Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting, carrying, and other physical tasks as outlined below.
- English Language Proficiency: Proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. ยง 7402(d) and 7407(d).
Preferred Experience
ABPN Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry, Buprenorphine treatment experience.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Mental Health Connect: Providing triage and evaluation services to Veterans new to Mental Health.
- General Psychiatrist: Providing comprehensive psychiatric medical care to patients on the Mental Health Diamond Team.
- Addiction Psychiatrist: Providing care to Veterans with addictions and substance use disorders.
- Primary Care - Mental Health Integration Psychiatrist: Providing integrated mental health care in primary care settings.
Work Schedule
Generally Monday - Friday (8:00 am to 4:30 pm) with light on-call responsibilities. Flexible work tours and telework may be available.
