Physician Gastroenterologist (Notional) - Loyal Source

About the Job
The Physician - Gastroenterologist treats conditions affecting the GI system such as acid reflux, ulcers, IBS, IBD, polyps, hepatitis C, liver cirrhosis, hemorrhoids, pancreatitis and colon cancer.
Major duties include, but may not be limited to:
- Attending GI inpatient service and outpatient clinics, perform other procedures as appropriate and attend medical staff meetings; performance of chart reviews; coordinate with other providers regarding patient care issues; completely documenting in the electronic health record; perform history and physicals within 24 hours of request; perform outpatient encounters; document consult notes; and process new and renewal prescriptions.
- Taking an active role in education and in the evaluation of the patient, deciding treatment/care options.
- Serving on service level and/or facility committees as needed and participating in the facility peer review program.
- Maintaining professional competency, courtesy and flexibility to provide the necessary services of this specialty to our Veteran population.
- Participating in the expanded use of clinical video telehealth (VVC and CVT)/electronic consultation (e-Consult) to improve access to GI care.
- Serving on committees, participate in quality assurance programs, assist facility in meeting established performance measures in the areas of Cardiology and such other duties as assigned by the Chief of Medicine.
- Working closely with all staff to ensure compliance with National, Network and local performance standards.
- Performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Board Certified /Board Eligible
· Residency Training - ACGME/AOA
· 3 years+ Experience
· Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. (Accredited)
· U.S. Citizenship: non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
· Active unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
· BLS, ACLS, NPI, and DEA cert
· Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
