Physician Director of Primary Care - Crozer Health System

The Physician Director of Primary Care (Director) is a member of the CHMG Core Operations Team.  In concert with the executive team is responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of the primary care medical group practices and ensuring the mission, values, and standards of care are delivered to maximize performance.   The Director collaborates on initiatives to improve operating efficiency, practice growth, and compliance of the providers in the network which includes all practices of Primary Care, Pediatrics, Geriatrics and Sports Medicine.  The Director recommends solutions to issues and opportunities based upon industry trends and effectively communicates to the CHMG Senior team. 

The Director will participate in negotiations regarding production metrics and quality goals. The Director collaborates with the CHMG CMO and Population Health to determine the annual quality metrics for primary care. The Director organizes and sets agenda for quarterly primary care physician medical group meetings and annual primary care practice provider meetings. The Director regularly meets and collaborates with Department Chairs of Medicine, Family Medicine, and Pediatrics. The Director serves as a mentor modeling accountability and practice professionalism.

Reports to:    CHMG Chief Medical Officer

Supervises:   Director of Advanced Practice Practitioners - (with CMO, CH)

                     CHMG Quality & Practice PI lead - (with CHMG COO)

                     Crozer Health Medical Group physicians in primary care,

                     pediatrics, geriatrics and sports medicine

Primary Responsibilities

• Participates in development and drives CHMG vision, policies and objectives
• Collaborates and partners with hospital and CHMG executives to implement effective business plans and organizational policy
• Monitors the quality of care delivered using provider dashboard quality metrics and other indicators.
• Reviews and evaluates the productivity of practices in MORs with CHMG President/CHMG CFO
• Member of Prospect Provider Group of PA Board
• Member of CHMG Core Operations Leadership Team
• Member of CHMG Physician Operations Council
• Develops relationships with community, organizations and groups that expand the primary mission including Ches Penn, Widener University, and others.
• Collaborates with Business Development, Quality, Human Resources, Information Systems, and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes for CHMG and CH.
• Directly involved in the recruitment and onboarding of primary care providers to CHMG
• Mentors leaders in career growth and succession planning efforts with emphasis on retention
• Maintains a clinical practice presence in Primary Care
• Monitors CHMG ambulatory practices Patient Satisfaction (Press-Ganey) reports

Knowledge and Skills

• Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Two years minimum clinical practice experience.
• Leadership experience or activities preferred
• Maintains clinical skills, required CMEs, licenses in the state of PA
• Superior Leadership skills in maintaining partnerships with physicians and staff
• The ability to maintain high standards of performance in a collegial environment
• Strong understanding of process improvement/ peer review and QI for practices
• Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with a results-oriented focus
• Exhibits resilience and ability to handle high pressured situations
• Exhibits high professionalism and altruism
• Self-motivated and champions new initiatives and innovative ideas
