Job Summary: Working for a growing orthopedic practice with responsibilities include clinic follow up with new and established patients. Actively renders direct patient care and possesses delegated prescriptive authority. Is credentialed and privileged. And whose service is billed as an independent billing provider, as recognized by Medicare and Medicaid within the healthcare systems, and in accordance with the appropriate board. The Advanced Practice Provider provides medical care based upon the scope of practice as delineated by the supervising physician. Care for both adult and pediatric patients in Orthopedics under the direction of the Physician. Provides direct clinic services and quality assurance. Collaborates with physicians, local health care facilities, to provide delivery of services available for patient’s needs. Consults with clinic physician to review patient’s care according to approved Physician Assistant protocols to evaluate quality assurance in an expanded role of Physician Assistant.
Qualifications/Reporting:
Required minimum education: Graduate of a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant educational program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.
Required minimum experience: Two years of experience in an Orthopedic Office is required.
Required skills (if applicable): Knowledge of practices, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and physical rehabilitation. Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests. Be able to demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills, including being empathetic, tactful and courteous. Have ability to pay attention to detail and prioritize responsibilities. Must have proven ability to maintain professional conduct and confidentiality in the care of patients. Must possess basic computer skills. Requires skills of communicating complex technical information internally and externally. Have strong written and verbal communication skills in both community both facing and internal settings. Enjoy taking initiative to solve open-ended problems. Has basic knowledge of editing, writing procedures and documentation. Effective communicating clear, concise and technically correct patient education and instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills. Basic skills in the use of computers and related software applications. Ability to develop and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans.
Required license/certification: Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas. Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA). Current DEA, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and First Assist certification required.
