- PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT ( PTA ) JOB SUMMARY

A Physical Therapy Assistant ( PTA ) implements Physical Therapy treatment programs, assesses patient progress, notes patient response to treatment and documents daily in clinical chart or as required. Participates in multi-disciplinary teams to correlate comprehensive patient care processes. Provides patient, staff and family education. Provides physical therapy care to infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics based on knowledge of growth and development of various populations. Interacts with patients, staff, physicians and the public in a professional manner. Treats patients with various integumentary, musculoskeletal, congenital abnormalities, genetic disorders and neurological dysfunctions. This position will rotate to various outpatient clinics, as needed.

- PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT ( PTA ) JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or experience: Required current Physical Therapy Assistant license by the State of Tennessee Division of Health Related Boards. CPR Certification required. Recommend membership in professional association.
Knowledge: Knowledge of basic growth and development. Knowledge of information, techniques, principles, methods and procedures needed to diagnose and treat injuries, disease and physical dysfunction. Knowledge of human behavior and performance.
Skills: Able to apply physical therapy treatment skills as needed according to the goals developed by the Physical Therapist. Talks and writes effectively and concisely to convey information effectively. Uses critical thinking to assess alternative methods to address a problem. Monitors and assesses performance.
Abilities: Uses deductive reasoning to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers. Able to listen and understand information presented in oral fashion. Able to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions. Actively listens by giving full attention to what other people are saying. Able to quickly adapt to new clinics and systems, as needed.
