Job Title: Physical Therapist (CA-AZ-NM-WA)
Job Summary:& In this role, you will provide high-quality physical therapy services to patients, caregivers, and facilities with minimal supervision, ensuring adherence to the principles and practices of physical therapy, as well as hospitals policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will include developing treatment plans, overseeing assistants and aides, participating in case management, and delivering exceptional patient care. You will maintain positive relationships with facilities and clients while expanding client engagements with facility staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Familiarize yourself with and comply with the appropriate state Practice Act, including regulations regarding the supervision of staff.
Review the Hospital Clinical Operations Policies Procedures Manual annually, ensuring compliance with outlined policies and procedures.
Complete all necessary Medicare compliance training in accordance with regulations and Hospital policies.
Attend annual Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training and adhere to established safety standards and regulations.
Conduct evaluations, treatment, and skilled direction of therapy for patients deemed medically necessary, with clear documentation of this necessity.
Maintain ongoing, accurate documentation of patient goals, progress, and medical necessity.
Timely and legibly complete all required documentation (including pre-certifications, physician reports, daily notes, and charge tickets) to meet the deadlines of facilities, physicians, and payers.
Foster open, respectful communication with colleagues, physicians, patients, families, and third-party payors at all times.
Attend and participate in facility meetings as assigned by the Center Manager, including those focused on utilization review, infection control, disaster preparedness, etc.
Engage in ongoing continuing education coursework to fulfill state licensure requirements.
Maintain current CPR certification in accordance with state licensure requirements.
Additional Responsibilities:
Utilize time effectively to meet productivity requirements.
Participate in and lead clinical in-services as required.
Stay informed about general changes in the healthcare field and specific developments affecting physical therapy practice.
Take on specific responsibilities in center operations as mutually agreed upon with the Center Manager.
Perform additional duties or special projects as needed.
Required Skills Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong leadership skills for effectively directing and supervising assistants and aides in delivering quality patient care, including coaching and teaching abilities.
Excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills.
Proficient clinical problem-solving abilities (e.g., identifying and prioritizing issues, developing and executing effective action plans).
Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and concise presentations to patients and staff.
Computer proficiency for clinical documentation and management reporting, including billing and payroll.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift patients using appropriate techniques throughout your workday; capable of lifting up to 50 pounds dead weight independently.
Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach frequently during a shift.
Sufficient visual acuity (near and distance) to evaluate, diagnose, and monitor patient needs and maintain accurate records.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and audibly to understand and provide directions.
Capability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and community.
Fine motor skills for legible and accurate documentation, including report writing, charting, scheduling, and presentations, either manually or via keyboard.
Proficient motor skills for handling diagnostic or therapeutic equipment safely and effectively.
Required Credentials:
Graduation from a physical therapist education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), or an equivalent program if educated internationally and seeking licensure.
State licensure/registration as required.
