Job Summary:
The Physical Therapist is responsible for the implementation of the physician's order for physical therapy services. The Physical Therapist should provide all necessary aspects of physical therapy within an interdisciplinary environment in order to facilitate the return of the patient to as independent and safe of lifestyle as possible. The Physical Therapist must utilize a growth and development knowledge base in the care of children (pediatric), adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
Performance Expectations
- Able to perform patient evaluations with use of appropriate functional tests/measures and demonstrates the ability to assimilate objective measures along with social factors, medical stability, activity restrictions, participation limitations or other relative comorbidities to determine functional deficits and construct short term goals, long term goals and personal/family goals with an appropriate frequency and duration in order to establish the therapy diagnosis and appropriate plan of care.
- Demonstrate the ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both self and patients per the physical/environmental demands specified below.
- Demonstrates proper, secure documentation in the Electronic Medical Record
- Demonstrates the ability to use critical thinking with patient evaluation and treatment planning
- Demonstrates understanding of moist heat and other physical agent modalities commonly used as these apply to each area of practice
- Utilizes age-specific patient care indicators all as necessary or indicated per plan of care
- Demonstrates understanding of the musculoskeletal, nervous and integumentary system utilizing age-specific patient care indicators as it relates to each structure
- Appropriately identifies learning needs of patient and family members
- Works as a team member to assist patient/family at all points of entry into the acute therapy care system and continuum of care

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
The incumbent shall, at a minimum, be a graduate of a four year bachelor’s degree approved
Physical Therapy Program. Acute Care Therapists and Therapy Assistants and will complete a minimum of 2 hours of stroke education annually
Work Experience:
May be a recent graduate.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Permanent or Temporary Licenses as a Physical Therapist from the Mississippi State Board of Physical Therapy.
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
- Basic Life Support
