POSITION SUMMARY:
The Physical Therapist Assistant implements physical therapy programs and provides physical therapy treatments to residents to facilitate increased independence and functioning under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1 Implements resident’s individualized treatment plan as defined by the primary Physical Therapist;
2 Provides individualized physical therapy treatments including modalities and exercises;
3 Acts as an assistant to the Physical Therapist when the Physical Therapist is performing tests, evaluations, and complex procedures;
4 Organizes and facilitates treatment groups in consultation with the physical therapist;
5 Instructs residents, families and other caregivers in the skills and techniques of the physical therapy treatment program under the supervision of the Physical Therapist;
6 Works with other members of the rehabilitation team to develop programs and activities consistent with the needs and capabilities of each resident;
7 Maintains appropriate and timely resident and non-resident documentation for all residents treated;
8 Attends and contributes to resident care, staffing and other required meetings as a representative of physical therapy, under the direction of the physical therapist;
9 Cleans, maintains, identifies, and reports the need for repair of equipment, as necessary;
10 Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1 Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.
2 Licensed as required by the State.

1 Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees.
2 Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
